Simple outline for a research paper

The research paper outline according to MLA format includes the following elements. The student and professor’s name, class, and date appear on the first page. The header contains the page numbers at the upper right corner. All titles to be written in italics. A complete list with endnotes before cited works.

There are three different kinds of research paper outline: alphanumeric, full-sentence and decimal outlines. The differences relate to formatting and style of writing. An alphanumeric outline is most commonly used. It uses Roman numerals, capitalized letters, arabic numerals, lowercase letters to organize the flow of information.
